A few months ago Brazil topped our Facebook polls, with 71% of Brazilians backing Obama. Now a Brazilian, Miguel Leonel dos Santos, has started a blog about the election at:BarackObamaPresidente.blogspot.com. Miguel writes: "Barack Obama is the hope for change in the U.S., and will not only promote friendly relations with people around the world, but also improve the economic conditions of the American people. As Obama said, "the time for change has come" and we have faith in the words of this Senator who has wonderful ideas and powerful ideals." The opinions of simple brazilians are as important as the next horse fly. But, the opinion of brazilian-americans that leave abroad and have the power to vote cannot be underestimated. I call for a front to elect Obama in 2008.
We must consider that most brazilians are acommodated, and do not have a formal political and social education, before we take their opinion seriously. On the other hand, great part of brasilian-americans are politically sharp for having lived in a real democracy.
